Remembrance Sunday 2009 - Advice

Dear All,

I am hoping to go to the Cenotaph this year to pay my respects and obviously get a glimpse at British Ceremonial at its best. Does anyone have any recommendations about what times to get there so as I can get a good viewpoint at the railings?

Four Colours?

Dear All,

I was browsing and found this image; it displays 5 Grenadier Guards Officers, 4 of whom are carrying colours and a Guard behind clearly on Horseguards. The Guard looks like a troop guard only with more officers. Does anyone know where it is from / what it shows?

New No 2 dress for the entire British Army

With the costs of the war and lack of equipment being headline news, I am surprised to read that the entire British Army below Officer ranks are to be issued with a new No 2 uniform of the same shade cloth as that of the officers in the Guards Division.
Appreciate on the scheme of things cost is low, but would this not be better suited towards body armour increasing the immediate delivery of the new model helmet thats being issued ?

I read that Gen Sir M Rose is to cease being the Colonel of the Coldstream Guards later in 2009. Major Gen Bucknall will then become the 29th Colonel of the Regiment.
Are the Coldm Colonels only appionted for a certain period of time (10 years) or is he retiring his position ?
I believe he became the 28th Colonel back in Sept 1999 after Lt Gen the Hon Sir William Rous passed away.

Promenading

I was watching a DVD of the Changing of the Guard that I purchased from the Guards Shop and I noted something interesting. The two Guard Captains are promenading together in the Palace forecourt and they're holding their swords horizontally by the lower part of the blade. Is this the norm for officers promenading?

I understand the topic is somehow beyond this site's scope, but maybe someone can help me identify the uniform worn by the Officer depicted in the photo (see URL). In 2010, the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards will troop their new Queen's Colour. Perhaps we can dream a bit here and make some points here.
The Commanding Officer now is a Royal Marines Officer, but do you think that he will be in command of the Parade; it will be the first time then.
